The title “Gays and Artists causes GDP growth’ refers to the famous theory of Richard Florida 3xT (technology, talent, tolerance), which he described in the Birth of the Creative Class. Arguing that creativity is now a key factor in economic growth, Florida notes that the high number of representatives of creative communities, as well as gays and lesbians, correlates with the development of innovation and the high-tech industry in a given region.
Piskorska in a perverse way simplifies Florida’s thesis, arguing in a way the existence of homosexuals and artists in society through their economic utility, not because of human rights, respect for individual dignity and tolerance. The artist refers to Poland’s aspirations to become an economy based on knowledge, exposing an identity and ideological conflict in which traditionalism and conservatism are opposed to the liberalism of cognitive capitalism.
