The artist about the work: “Let us calmly assume that magic language has become an equal way of talking about effects and causes, diagnoses and phenomena. The power of the sacred flows through our country and is reflected in various forms. The magic word is a way of action rather than a tool of thought. The time has come to react. Let us no longer argue as intellectuals, let us reject logic, sine it has long ceased to matter”.
From 13th to 15th May 2017, Liliana Piskorska performed “enchanting rituals” to undo, as she says, the spell cast on Poland: “I want to reverse evil and remove all the bad things. As it is written: The person who was under a spell suffered from a terrible sorrow. In order to get rid of it, one had to do something about undoing the spell”.
“Enchanting” (etymologically in Polish: “annihilate by speaking”) is one of the three classical Polish word rituals. They are meant to: 1 – create (someone wants something to happen), 2 – protect (we want something not to happen) and 3 – undo things (we want something not to have happened). (after: A.
